Altemira Bailey, known as “Mira”, was born in Kentucky in 1832, the second of four children of John P. and Ellen (McMillan) Bailey. (Note: Ellen was John's first wife.)

Altemira married John S. Yocam on February 26, 1852 in Platte City, Missouri. They were the parents of the following children:
1) Furnetta “Nettie” Yocam (1855-1930), who married George Bluford Funderburk and had four children: Margaret Mae “Maggie” Funderburk – known to family as “Aunt Meg Furlong” (see Findagrave Memorial # 53335364);
2) Lewis Pierce (1877-1929) who married Mary Ryan;

Yocam deceased, make oath and states that the deceased left no last will and testament, that he left the following heirs at law, to wit: Altimira Yocam, widow, Lewis P. Yocam, Fernetta Yocam, Newton Yocam, Milton Yocam, William H. Yocam, Sarah E. Yocam.


John Yocam died at 29 in 1865 but Mira lived until 1889; both were buried in the Yocam family cemetery in Platte County, Missouri.
