Mary Jean Adams, 83, of Bolivar died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Garnett, Kan., the daughter of Homer Curtis and Ruby Visalia Wilson Kent.

She was a homemaker, but also had worked beside her husband as a bookkeeper and part owner in Adams Oil and Tire Company in Bolivar for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bolivar, and was a member of the Citizens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, donating much of her time there.

She is survived by her son, Curtis Adams of Fulton; a daughter, Leah Irvin and her husband, Monty, of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Charles Kent of Joplin, Jim Kent of Hoyt, Kan., Jerry Kent of Garnett, Kan.; three sisters, Roannah McDonald of Garnett, Kan., Helen of Washington State, Nina Brown of Waverly, Kan.; three grandchildren, Jace Adams and Rheagan Perkins and Adam Irvin; and two great-grandchildren; Sawyer Adams and Brodie Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay J. Adams in 1985; her parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Hendrickson officiating. The family suggests contributions to the Citizens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of Butler Funeral Home, 407 E. Broadway St., Bolivar MO. 65613.
