Donald R. "Donnie" Arnold, 74, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 1:20 p.m. at Rest Haven Nursing & Rehab Center after a long courageous battle with leukemia and lung cancer.

He was the husband of 34 years to Betty S. (Castle) Arnold. Born June 29, 1936, in York, he was the son of the late Albert and Eleanor (Kibler) Arnold, Sr.

Viewing will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. The service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Eddie D.D. Miller, chaplain with AseraCare Hospice, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Donnie worked his whole life as a truck driver for Eckert Trucking, Yorktowne Kitchens, Borger/Levinson Steel and K.C. Schaeffer Wholesales. He a U.S Army veteran serving during the Korean War and a member of Teamsters Local 430. He enjoyed all things in life, loved animals of all kind, playing cards with his buddies, going to the casino and his favorite was watching tennis and Nascar with "Faith".
He traveled all over the Caribbean Islands with his wife and they both shared the life and love at their special place of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Brian Arnold of Lancaster, Donna Minot of York and his beloved stepson, Keith Arnold; also, his beloved niece, Gina Brenneman who he loved as a daughter; five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; a very special love and devotion to "Faith" and Perry Brenneman whom he loved as a "Pap and Father"; brother, Walter Arnold, Sr. of York; stepsister, Josephine Sprenkle and stepbrother, Gerry Arnold. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Arnold, Jr. and a sister, Phyllis Stambaugh.

Contributions may be made to his "adoptive" family at AseraCare Hospice, 44 Bowman Rd., York, PA 17408.
