DIED. In Manhattan, June 12, 1873, at the residence of her son, Solomon Whitney, Mrs. Sibil Whitney, aged 85 years.
Mrs. Whitney was the daughter of _____Arms, one of the first settlers in Brattleboro, Vt., and a sister of Doctor William Arms, of that town. In 1805 she married William Goodnow of Whitingham, Vt., by who she had six children, among whom were Wm. E. and Isaac F. Goodnow, of Manhattan. In 1820 she married Solomon Whitney of Whitingham Vt., by whom she had two children, Solomon Whitney of Manhattan, and Ann M. wife of Stephen French, President of the First National Bank. Mrs. Whitney belonged to a hardy ancestry, and was remarkable for industry and perserverance in the battle of life. Her memory wiill be fondly cherished by her surviving children and other kindred and acquaintances.
