IN MEMORIAM.
At a regular Communication of Clarence Lodge, No 305, A.F. & A.M., Saturday, Jan. 23, 1875, the following resolutions were had, to-wit:
Whereas, It has pleased God on the 14th day of January 1875, to remove from our midst, our worthy brother, JAMES E. BURRIS (sic), therefore.
Resolved, that in the demise of our brother JAMES E. BURRIS (sic), the community has lost one of its most exemplary members, his family a faithful and devoted husband and father and the fraternity a most conscientious brother, and we accept this sore loss to us as another foreible admonition of our mortality, and pray God to sanctify this bereavement to our spiritual good.
Resolved, that we deeply sympathise with the bereaved widow and orphans in this irreparable loss, and as the All-wise architect of the Universe tempers the wind to the shorn lambs, may he in the plenitude of his loving kindness pour out abundantly his most choice blessings upon the surviving mourners.
Resolved, that the Lodge be draped in mourning and that the members wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.
Resolved, that these resolutions be printed and a copy sent to the widow of the deceased
