After Charles Von Carl's first wife Guntherine Fredericka died he married Sophia Clans Goering who had two children, Frank and Charles. Charles Von Carl adopted her son Charles and Charles Von Carl's sister Louise Peter Kendrick adopted Frank.
Charles died in Faxon, Oklahoma and was buried there in an unmarked grave but his Memorial headstone (Cenotaph) is in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashton, Kansas.
