"Mr. Charles "Chuck" Vernon Knight, Jr., 68 of Knight Lane, Fallston passed away April 28, 2016 at his residence.

Born December 30, 1947 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Charles V. Knight, Sr. and Rejina Ramsey Knight. Chuck was a graduate of Trenholm State in Montgomery, Alabama and Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory. He was a Navy Veteran, aviation ordnance man 3rd class stationed with fighter squadron 33 aboard the U.S.S. American CVA 66. Chuck was a member and charter commander of American Legion Post #527 in Fallston and charter commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a lifetime member of the Am Vets, member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Society of the War of 1812. He was instrumental in the building of the war veteran's memorial in Fallston.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jan K. Link.

Survivors include a son, Will Knight and wife, Meggan of Boone; daughter, Ann Knight of Deland, Florida and a sister, Ginger Spangler of Shelby.

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday at Fallston Baptist Church with Rev. David Blanton officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Fallston American Legion Post 527, PO Box 251, Fallston, NC 28042."
