Harry Verle Miller,95, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, in the Washington County Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Beatty Funeral Home, Washington, by the Rev. Edward Philgreen. Burial: Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to he Washington Fire Department CAIRNS Iris.

Harry was born June 5, 1904, in Washington County, the son of Harry Edward and Bessie Elizabeth Mumper Miller. He attended school in Washington and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. On Nov. 29, 1930, he married Genevieve Harrison. Mr. Miller was the owner of Miller Garage and Repair for most of his adult life. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Izaak Walton League.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve; two sons, Bill and wife Bunny of Neihart, Mont., and Thomas J. of Washington, Iowa; five daughters, Marilyn and husband Vaughan Steen of Des Moines, Janet and husband Ambrose Kaalberg of Ladora, Deidre and husband Eugene Zehr of Washington, Iowa, Phyllis and husband Bill Klaus of Melrose and Nancy Miller of Santa Barbara, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and Ray; and a son, John.
