Roger Adams was a private in Captain Amariah Fuller's company, Colonel Thomas Gardner's regiment, 19 Apr 1775, and private in Captain Edward Fuller's company, Colonel Thatcher's regiment, 2 Sep 1778. Later he was a lieutenant in the militia. He and his wife Hepzibah were made members of the Second Congregational Church in Newton 19 Jul 1795. He lived with his father after his marriage and all his children were born in the old house, where he resided till his death in 1811.

Originally laid to rest in the old cemetery at West Newton, he was moved in a lot of his daughter Betsey Noyes.
