Funeral services for Vivian M. Tilton will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel with Father Clyde Thomas and Reverend Mark Strickland officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Hampton Memorial Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Vivian, 87, of Elizabeth, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Oberlin with her loving family by her side.

She was born October 18, 1928 in Grant to the union of John Ivy Dowies and Ann Agnes (Simmons) Dowies.

In 1976, Vivian received her G.E.D. from Elizabeth High School. Those of you that remember the Finke Store in Elizabeth, she was the bookkeeper until it closed. She also was the bookkeeper for the Elizabeth Tie & Timber Sawmill. Vivian was the credit union manager for Cabrini Hospital, Barksdale Federal Credit Union FCI Oakdale, and BEL Federal Credit Union of Louisiana Baptist Building Alexandria. She prepared income taxes for family, friends, and acquaintances throughout the community and surrounding areas for years. She was a Past Matron Order of the Eastern Star.

Besides her family, her passion was traveling along with Edward D., she visited 49 of the 50 states. Only missed Hawaii because they never built the bridge. She spent her last 3 years as a resident of St. Francis Nursing Home in Oberlin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward D. Tilton; two brothers, Clyde Dowies and J. C. Dowies.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are: her children, Phillip (Martha Ann) Turner of Elizabeth, Glenda (Larry) Crawford of Anna, Texas, Peggy (Lee) Vizena of Elizabeth, and John (Trudy) Tilton of Iowa; grandchildren, Traci Turner, Glenn (Tricia) Turner, Ann (William) Goade, Amy (Gary) Owensby, Leeanne Vizena, Jessica (Luke) Tarver, Michael Vizena, and Daphney Tilton; great grandchildren, Jacob Turner, Lawrence Goade, Rachel Goade, Gracie Goade, Grant Owensby, Olivia Owensby, Emily Owensby, and Holly Grace Tarver; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Glenn Turner, Jacob Turner, William Goade, Lawrence Goade, Luke Tarver, and Bob Dowies.

Visitation will be held at White Oaks Memorial Chapel on today, April 28, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., then on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
