Daughter of Edward Hatley (1778-1831) and Jane Munns (1780-unknown).

In 1854 her husband James arrived in New York and then settled in Ontario. She followed in December 1855 with the first nine of their children.

They had 13 children:

1) Robert, born in England in 1841. He later married Mary Ann Burrows.
2) Edward, born in England in 1843.
3) James, born in England in 1845.
4) Henry, born in England in 1846.
5) Jane, born in England in 1849.
6) Mary, born in England in 1851.
7) Ann, born in England in 1851.
8) Emma, born in England in 1852.
9) Reubin, born in England in 1855, died in Ontario in 1867.
10) David, born in Ontario in 1857.
11) Joseph, born in Ontario in 1858, died in Ontario in 1867.
12) George, born in Ontario in 1860.
13) William, born in Ontario in 1861, died in Ontario in 1867.

Their children Reubin, Joseph, and William died from injuries sustained from a house fire on Thirty Road in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada in March of 1867 caused by a candle while the family was drying flax. Following the fire, the family moved to Bothwell, Ontario.
