Russell A. Gladfelder, 3615 Guildford Rd., died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 1974, in Park Strathmoor Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Appanoose County, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Gladfelder. Lived 40 years in Rockford, coming here from Appanoose County. Married the former June V. Peterson in Rockford June 18, 1949. Veteran of World War II, serving with the 46th Fighter Squadron, USAAF, in the Pacific Theater. Member of Col. Thomas G. Lawler VFW Post No. 342.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Rodney, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Bankson and Mrs. Mary Campoli, both of Rockford; three brothers, Audrey and Glen, both of Centerville, IA, and Claude, Pagoosa Springs, CO, and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. James F. Engel, Sr., pastor of United Methodist Church of Freeport officiating. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 N. 6th St. No visitation.
