Some records show her year of birth as 1901 (i.e. SSI), however the census records show she was likely born in 1900.

She was 1/16 Cherokee Native American Indian, her mother being 1/4; her grandmother (Alrilda "Allie" [Panther] Kidd Caudill) being full Cherokee.

Jesse Woodville Martin (1863-1910)
and Mary Lavina Kidd (1868-1915)

FELT, Okla. - Nancy Rosetta Martin "Rose" Bassett, 97, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 (MST) Wednesday in Barton Cemetery at Edgewood, N.M., with W.G. Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City.

Mrs. Bassett was born in Pryor. She married Leslie D. Bassett in 1920 at Estancia, N.M. They lived in Venus, N.M., then moved to nearby Edgewood, where they farmed and ranched for many years.

Mr. Bassett died in 1976. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar in 1957 and Sanford in 1987.

After her husband died, Mrs. Bassett moved to Happy, Texas, and lived there for four years. She then moved to Felt, where she lived for 11 years before moving to Cimarron Nursing Home in Boise City.

Survivors include a daughter, LaRue Myers of Felt; a son, Bruce Bassett of Happy; eight grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Cimarron Nursing Home c/o Cimarron Mortuary.
