John Thomas Robinson was born in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, January 17, 1875. He was married to Dollie Tolar in 1897. To this union were born nine children, four boys and five girls. Eight of these children and his wife survive him. One daughter, Elbertine, died at the age of seven years.
In 1901, Mr Robinson moved from Louisiana to Texas and made his home in Erath County where he lived the remaining years of his life. The greater part of this time he lived in the Lowell Community. Three years ago when his health began failing him, he moved to Stephenville.
During his life time Mr Robinson took an active interest in his community, serving many years as a school trustee, also an active interest in his county, state, and national government. He kept himself well-informed on all political and civic affairs and was a friend to all who came in contact with him.
Those surviving, besides the companion are the eight children: Dewitt, Rio Linda, California; Ira, Longview; Flavil, Odessa; Lawrnce, Fort Worth; Mrs. Ovia Spicer, McCamey; Mrs. Vallie Mae Putty, Mrs. Beatrice Shilling, and Mrs. Pauline Owens, Stephenville. Also surviving are twenty-four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, C. W. Robinson, and one sister, Mrs Elma Walker.
Three brothers, W. C., T. C., and J. V. Robinson, and one sister, Mrs. Vira Kendrick preceded him in death.
Honorary Pallbearers were W. C. Clayton, Sol D. Yardley, Matt Henderson, Walter Newsome, J. R. Palmer, George Crenshaw, and Fred Shelton. Active pallbearers were his nephews, Shelby, Elmer, and Thomas Kendrick, Eual, T. C. Loy and Willie Darrell Robinson and Alton Stinson. The flower girls were his nieces.
Funeral services were in charge of the Harrell Funeral Home of Dublin and were conducted by Bros. Telefus Cawyer and Coleman D. Nichols, a lontime friend. Services were held at the Church of Christ of Lingleville. He was laid to rest in the East End Cemetery, beside his daughter, Elbertine.
