Allen Earle DeLong of St. Thomas, NB, passed away on July 20, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, surrounded by his wife Gail, his three daughters, son in-law Mitch, brother, Lee and wife Charmaine. Allen was born on August 3, 1954 in Woodstock, NB to Earle and Ainslie (nee Jensen) DeLong.

Allen was a hardworking man, who travelled all over North America as a long haul truck driver for over 30 years, finishing his career as an owner/operator for County Line Trucking. Although Allen loved "trucking", his first love and priority was his family. Allen married his sweetheart Gail (nee Calhoun) on April 7, 1978, and theirs was a tremendous love, the kind that is talked about in fairy tales. They were blessed with three beautiful girls, Crystal (Ali) of St. Thomas, NB, Michelle (Mitch) Nason of Woodstock, NB, and MaryAnn of St. Thomas, NB and his pride and joy, Pa’s Pit Crew; grandsons Owen (10), and Daniel (8) Nason. Allen was a passionate man, strong, yet tender, and always greeted his loved ones with a hug and kiss. Allen will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of babies and his green thumb; a true outdoorsman, he could grow anything, and loved gardening and hobby farming. Allen was respected and loved by everyone who knew him, but will be especially missed by his beloved of over 40 years Gail, his daughters and their families. Allen is also survived by brother Bob DeLong of Wakefield, NB, his sister Barb (Rick) Hendley, of Woodstock, NB, Sister Pearle (Reynaldo) Perez, of Toronto, ON, sister Elizabeth (Don) Calhoun, of Woodstock NB, brother Lee (Charmaine) DeLong, of Beaverton ON, and sister Eleanor (Marvin) Hayes of Fredericton, NB, as well as his mother in law, Mary (nee Craddock) Calhoun of Woodstock, NB, many brothers and sisters in-laws, nephews and nieces. Generous until the very end, Allen’s final gift was the gift of life to many, through organ donation.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents Earle and Ainslie DeLong, as well as his nephews Benny and Robbie DeLong, his father in-law Caldwell Calhoun and his sister in-law, Elaine (nee Calhoun) Pryor.

Visitation will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home & Crematorium 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville, NB on Sunday, July 26 from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral service will be held on Monday July 27 from The Carleton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 with Pastor Mel presiding.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
