Swayne Shubert, age 65, of Lula passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009.
Born in Banks County on Nov. 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Jesse and Dollie Smith Shubert. Mr. Shubert served in the U.S. Army with 101st Airborne Division. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, the local VFW and was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shubert of Lula, son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers.
Mr. Shuberts wishes were for his body to be donated to Emory University for scientific study.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720, Rabun County DAV Chapter No. 15 and American Legion Post No. 84. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Rock Springs Baptist Church Children Church Fund, 747 Rock Springs Road, Lula, GA 30554.
