Raymond L. Anderson, age 80, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away September 14, 2009, at Bethany Lutheran Home.
Ray was born December 21, 1928, in Council Bluffs, to the late George and Anna (Borner) Anderson. He made his home in Honey Creek for most of his life before moving to Council Bluffs in the eighties. Ray married Barbara Hempel on October 15, 1972. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, Stang Company and retired from the Grain Exchange as a grain tester.
Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Kaufman; brothers, Leonard Anderson; and infant (brother), Robert Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Anderson, of Council Bluffs; sisters, Julia Toman, of Missouri Valley, Alice Horn, of Malvern; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Joyce Bynum, of Council Bluffs, Karen Young, in Illinois; brother- in-law, Donald Hempel and wife, Dixie, of Council Bluffs.
Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer- Woodring Funeral Home. Fu- neral service, Thursday, 10 a.m. at the mortuary with Rev. Jann Osborn officiating. Interment Branson Cemetery, Loveland, Iowa. Memorials to the American Cancer Society preferred.
