Marilyn Magleby Hallows, Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and friend to all, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2016 at the age of 85 in Bountiful, Utah.
Marilyn was born August 6, 1930 in Monroe, Utah to Newel Magleby and Madge Tuft Magleby.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, companion and caregiver, Brice J Hallows. They were married in the Manti Temple February 22, 1950. She is also survived by her eight children; Mark Brice Hallows (Ann), Paula Day (Steve), Timothy James Hallows (Anita), Rick Dwight Hallows (Geri), Terren Newel Hallows (Heidi), Jann Theurer (Mike), Heather Johnson (Donnel), Angela Kilgore (Chad); 36 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Dan Magleby (Patti), two sisters, Susan Farnsworth and Shannon Singson (Bob). She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother David Magleby.
Marilyn had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was active in LDS church callings, serving as Relief Society President, Primary President, Young Women's President and teacher in many organizations. She was always involved with music either playing the piano, organ, or singing in the choir. Her life was filled with service to family, neighbors, and friends. She served three LDS missions with Brice to the Philippines; Toronto, Canada; and Memphis, Tennessee. They also served a mission on Welfare Square helping to feed the homeless. She had great faith and a strong connection to the spirit. She studied the scriptures regularly, and her faith in prayer wrought many miracles. Marilyn was a talented seamstress, loved to cook and be in the kitchen, loved gardening and she bottled every summer. Marilyn was an avid writer, keeping journals and writing letters to her six missionaries and many of the grandchildren who served missions. She was a poet, authoring poems about everyday life and gospel principles. Her love of family is much like her love for the Savior, Jesus Christ and His Gospel, perfect and without end.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Orchard 2nd Ward building on 3707 S. 800 W. Viewings will be Thursday 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the same ward building. Interment will be in the Aurora City Cemetery.
