Mrs. Minerva Courtney Barefield, 66 years old, died of euraemic poisoning at the home of her son, E.H. Barefield. Mrs. Barefield was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Courtney and was born in Sumter County, Georgia shortly before the Courtney family moved to Eufaula. She married G.W. Barefield in Eufaula in 1870. She is survived by three sons: E.C. Barefield, Q.C. Barefield, and M.M. Barefield of Birmingham.
Funeral services were held at the residence with Rev. H.C. Threadgill, pastor of the First Methodist Church, in charge. Mrs. Barefield was a longtime member of the church. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.
