Hollister grew up in Des Moines and was the center of our family's universe. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 2005, where he was the Winter Formal King his senior year. He loved Dowling so much he "bled maroon". Hollis also attended DMACC, aspiring to become a marine biologist.

Hollis was full of passion. He was passionate about Maroon sports and was the football manager all 4 years at Dowling Catholic. He was passionate about playing and watching sports. He played baseball and hockey and was an avid Iowa State Cyclones, Avalanche, Dallas Cowboys, Iowa Cubs and Texas Rangers fan. Hollis took his sports very, very seriously. Hollis was also passionate about the state of his birth: Texas, as represented by the single yellow rose in his floral display.

Hollis was joyous, spiritual, opinionated and very interested in politics. Most of all, he had a deep love for his sister, brother and Hooch Dog. He had a deep faith and love of God.

Hollis died peacefully on April 25, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family, caretakers and friends. Hollis was a gift to so many and taught us all so much in his short life here. Hollis was well prepared to meet his Maker. For all of this, we are eternally grateful to call him a wonderful son, brother and friend.

Hollis was predeceased by grandfathers Ed Farrell and Jerry Ferstl, his Godfather, Uncle Bob Farrell and his beloved dog, Hooch.
