Mrs. Alger was a graduate of Emory & Henry College and professionally was a project accountant for M.C. Dean in Harrisonburg, Va.
She was very active in her community. For many years, she proudly served as treasurer for New Market Rebels Baseball, where she generously opened up her home and heart to many young men to provide them with the opportunity to chase their life's dreams and who each became her adopted sons.
She was a devoted member of Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market, where she served as church treasurer.
On Nov. 16, 1991, Lynne became the "Beautiful Bride" of C. Bruce Alger, who survives.
In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by two sons, Christian Trey Rader Alger and Calvin Bruce Alger II, both of New Market; a stepdaughter, Amanda Renee Alger (James Armstrong) of Orlando, Fla.; a stepson, Calvin Gregory Bruce Alger and wife, Kelly, of Harrisonburg; a sister, Cynthia Rader Durham and husband, Al; four grandchildren, Jaden, Brody, Riley and Isaiah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Jeffrey Sonafelt will conduct a memorial service 6 p.m. Tuesday at Reformation Lutheran Church. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 pm. Monday at Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market.
