James Lee Stephens age 90 of Maryville passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born and raised in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. Lee retired from Maryville College after 44 years of service. He spent his life farming and raising a garden. In 2009 he won The Soil Conservation Award. Preceded in death by: Parents, Charles & Janie Stephens; Brothers, Horace Stephens and Charles Green; Sister, Luria Leonard. Survivors include: Wife, Oma Lucy Stephens; Sister, Ann Leonard; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Horace Lee & Billie Stephens and Doyle E. & Pat Stephens; Daughter & Son-in-law, Mary Jane & Don Turbyfill; Grandchildren, Jeremy Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Diana Lennox, Jennifer Quals, Andrea Knight, Becky Smithey, Rennay Melton, Stephanie Daniel, and Mary Elizabeth Shaumburg; 23 Great-Grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Travis Groth, Jimmy of Home Health, and the girls at 4-South for being so kind and caring. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Becky Smithey, Rev. Frank Mason, and Rev.
