Lifetime Area Farmer
Joseph T. Bickett, 68, Foust Rd., Xenia Route 5, died at 5:30 a.m. today at Greene Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient one week.
A farmer, Mr. Bickett had resided on the Foust Rd. farm all of his life. He was born there Aug. 27, 1901, the son of Clark and Margaret Turnbull Bickett.
He was a member of the Second United Presbyterian Church, the Farm Bureau, National Rifleman’s Association and Greene County Fish and Game Association.
Survivors include his widow, Dorothy Baughn Bickett whom he married Oct. 18, 1922; four daughters, Mrs. William (Lois) Haines of Wilmington, Mrs. Joan White, near Xenia, Mrs. Lonnie (Ruth) Shattuck Jr., of Xenia and Mrs. Janet Bickett at home; three sons, Ronald and John R., near Xenia and Wendell Bickett of Xenia; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Blanche) Rector of Xenia and Mrs. Mary Brock of South Charleston; a brother, Robert Bickett, near Xenia, and 10 grandchildren.
Private services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at the McColaugh Funeral Home, 825 N. Detroit St., with the Rev. Kenneth L. Beams officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 7-9 p.m.
