Jennetta Pearl was the oldest of 8 children born to Moses and Laura Hampton Riley. She married James Otto Cain on 1 March 1908, in Montgomery Cnty, Indiana, and they had one son, Lewis Norman, born 1 January 1909, in Colfax, Indiana.
Jenetta Pearl died at the age of 22 from the effects of blood poisoning. She had been leading a cow by a leather strap when the cow began to run and the strap became wrapped around Jenetta's arm. The arm became inflamed and septisemia set in, resulting in her untimely death.
