On July 23, 1998, Miss Irene Elma Buckles of Edmonton passed away at the age of 83 years.
She leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters, Frances J.M. Buckles of Edmonton and Alice L. Bitz of Medicine Hat; one brother James W. (Joyce) Buchholz of Parksville, B.C. Miss Buckles was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Curtiss and one sister, Dolores.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Miss Buckles taught school in rural areas around Redcliff, Medicine Hat and Hilda in southern Alberta, then Athabasca. She taught high school math in Edmonton for 30 years. Miss Buckles was in England with the DND teaching the children of the Military. She was with CIDA in Nigeria for two years where she taught teachers to teach math. (Edmonton Journal).
