Darnell was born in Fresno, California. He passed away in Sacramento, California at the age of 42.
Darnell was a Director of Special Projects for the California State Assembly on the staff of Assembly Member, Mervyn Dymally of the 52nd Assembly District. He was also the Director of the Legislative Black Caucus, Vice-Pres- ident of the California Conference of the N.A.A.C.P. and former Assistant to Speaker Herb J. Wesson.
Visitation will be held at Greater St. Stephen's Baptist Church on Friday, October 13, 2006, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Greater St. Stephen's Baptist Church, 6524 44th St., Sacramento, CA on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Sunset Lawn in Sacramento.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Darnell L. Cooley Memorial Fund at Washington Mutual Bank, 801 "K" St., Sacramento, CA 95814.
