Doris Jean Carr Hensley

Doris Jean Carr Hensley, 65, of Old Fort, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at her residence. She was born in McDowell County to Margaret Effler Carr and to the late Jean Carr.

Her smile warmed a room. She loved everyone that she met. Her beautiful heart and joyful spirit expressed the radiance of God on her face. She was an angel, a gift to this earth for 65 years. She fought for many years, never complaining and always more concerned about others than herself. God placed her here to touch lives and to be a witness to everyone that she knew with her attitude and beautiful smile.

She is with her father now in heaven. She won the battle. We will keep her memory alive striving to have a caring heart and a joyful Godly attitude each day. A happy heart is good medicine, Proverbs 17:22.

In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Harold Hensley of the home; one son, Jeff Lytle; one daughter, Regina Dean and husband, Carl; two granddaughters, Darcy and Zoey, who she loved very much and can't wait to see them again. May God hold you in his arms, we'll miss you mama!

Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, Oct. 12, 2006, at Grace Community Church with Rev. Jerry Lewis and Rev. Dwayne Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 p.m., prior to the service at the church.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Bethlehem Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to: Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, N.C. 28752.
