Former Local Resident, Dies


Arthur L. Bond, age 63 years, a former resident of Valparaiso, died suddenly Monday at his home in Miller, near Gary, of a heart attack.
He had been employed in the Coke department of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel company for many years, and would have been entitled to a pension in two years.
The decedent was born in Valparaiso, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bond. He was united in marriage to Florence Babcock, of this city, who survives, together with three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Robinson of Valparaiso, Mrs. Norman Farmer of Miller, Ind., and Mrs. Walter Mangus of Miller. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. William Bond, and one brother, Walter Bond of Chicago.
Memorial services will be held at the Burns and Williams chapel in Gary, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial in that city.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Shearer, of this city, will go to Gary this evening to remain until after the rites. Mrs. Shearer is a sister of Mrs. Bond.
