Nate leaves behind a caring and loving wife Joyce; surviving children are Nathan (Tammy) Haehnle, Greg (Kheira) Haehnle, Kristen Haehnle, Kelly Haehnle and Mike (Cassie) Donahue; two brothers, Jim (Marsha) Haehnle, and Babe (Bonnie) Haehnle; many grandchildren and great-grand children that he dearly loved; uncle, Bud Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; late wife, Ann Haehnle and step-son, Kevin Donahue.
He attended Jackson High School and made Jackson Michigan his home for his entire life. In high school Nate excelled in football and wrestling. Nate was the Michigan High School State Champion wrestler in the 145 lb. weight class in 1959.
Later in life, Nate loved to play softball, golf, play cards, visit garage sales, and collect records. He loved Joyce and his family and he enjoyed taking weekend casino trips. Nate worked as a Corrections Officer for many years before he retired in 1998.
Nate's easy going and gentle charm afforded him many friends, including his life-long friend Don Mains who was often his team mate, co-con- spirator and card partner. He was a genuine, caring person and those who knew him liked him, and those who knew him well loved him. We will all miss the twinkle in his eye and his easy smile.
A celebration of Nate's life was held at the Cornerstone Christian Church, Friday, April 22. According to his wishes, cremation followed.
