Margaret “Cleo” Stamey McLean, 93 of Morganton, NC died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Carolina Rehab Center of Burke. Born in Burke County, NC on April 2, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Ales Stamey and Sarah Zimmerman Stamey.

Mrs. McLean was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she kept the nursery. She loved her Lord and her church. Cleo was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked for many years in several area hosiery mills and later worked in the fast food industry. Cleo last worked as a biscuit maker at Hardees on Highway 181.

Mrs. McLean is survived by her children, Norman C. McLean and wife, Diane, Dwayne W. McLean, Jerald E. McLean, Denise McLean, and Margaret McLean; grandchildren, Tonya McLean, Lucy McLean, Dwayne McLean, Laura England, Chase England, Colby Denton, and wife, Tabitha, and Spencer Hass; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McLean was preceded in death by her husband, Norman W “Pete” McLean and siblings, Ruth, Lois, Julie, Estelle, and a brother.

The family will receive friends, from 2 – 3 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
