Rev. Melvin Lonas, age 91 of Sevierville passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Lovingly known to most as "Pappy", he impacted countless lives throughout his 70 year ministry. He served as Pastor of Churches of God in Townsend, Spring City, Columbia, Newport, Sevierville and Maryville, TN. After his retirement from pastoring, he continued his ministry by performing wedding ceremonies at Smoky Mountain Wedding Chapel of Sevierville. Pappy loved to sing and play the saxophone and was a wonderful story-teller. He will be remembered for his Christ-like spirit, his ministry and his sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Davis Lonas; great-granddaughter, Hallie McMahan; mother, Molly Mae Lonas; father, Isaac Melvin Lonas; brothers, Moody, Bill, Hoyt, Rufus Ted, Jackie, and Eugene; sister Aline Carnes.

Son and Daughter-in-law: Marvin & Linda Lonas;
Daughters and Sons-in-law: Marcia & Gary Walker, Melissa & Gary Cole, Myra & Morris Monroe;
Grandchildren: Jeff and Beverly Lonas, Stephanie Register, Jennifer and Phillip Adlof, Larissa and Jimmy McMahan, Lauren Monroe;
Great grandchildren: Kaitlin Adlof, Samuel and Makinley Lonas, Jessica and Tiffany McMahan;
Brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Carolyn Lonas;
Extended family including step-children, Larry and Sherry Cannon, Paul Temple; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Allison Cannon, Taylor Cannon, Tara Cannon, Temple Cannon; step-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Savannah Cannon, Kipton Cannon, Tucker Stanley, Tatum Rogers.



The family will receive friends 2-4:45 PM Sunday with funeral service following at 5 PM at Parkway Church of God with Pastor Philip Morris, Pastor Herschell Baker, and Mr. James Reading officiating.
