Charles W. McGowan age 75 of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed away, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He was born on June 12, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri the son of Raleigh & Vada (Humphrey) (sic) [Humphries] McGowen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, his parents, a brother, Elvis McGowen and a sister, Barbara Pugh.
He is survived by 2 sons, Charles Wesley McGowen, Jr of Columbus, Kansas and Roy Allen McGowen of Baxter Springs, Kansas, one daughter, Charlene Butler of Stamps, Arkansas, 2 brothers, Robert "Goose" McGowen of Joplin, Missouri and Richard "Dick" McGowen of Miami, Oklahoma. Also surviving is his companion, Louise Baird, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services and interment will be held, 1:00 PM, Monday, April 25, 2016 at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Treece Kansas. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 7:00PM Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce, Oklahoma.
