The photo of the 4 men, was at a Ohio State game. He was an alumni of Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Dad is the 2nd man from the left, the one with the cane.

The photo of the 3 men, from left to right-is of Hank Greenburg, Bob Ferguson, and my Dad-"Bud" Graves taken while stationed in Harligen, Texas, on January 19, 1945.

Dad passed while a patient in the Springfield Regional Medical Center of Springfield, Ohio, at the young age of 90 following several years of declining health.

He enjoyed his 90th Birthday that was hosted by family and friends.

He was the second of 5 children born to Olen Alfred Graves, and Helen Elizabeth Yerian. His siblings were Marian Helen (Graves) Florea (1924 - 1990); Doris Lou (Graves) Immel (1928 - 2004); Olen Theodore "Ted" Graves (1932 - 2003)" and Emily Faye (Graves) Vernon (1940 - 1984). But, the last to pass. He did it his way. He was also preceded in passing by his loving wife, and soul-mate Nancy Louise (Ensley) Graves who passed on January 13, 2013.

Left to mourn his loss were, his children-Nancy Eugenia Graves-Springfield, Ohio; Donna Louise Graves-Acworth, Georgia and her children-Patrick, Joel, and Lauran Makowski-all of Acworth, Georgia, and the father of her children-Arthur Makowski; and Donald Edmond Graves-Eastover, North Carolina, and his children-Matthew (Jenna) Graves-Colorado, Brian Graves-Wilmington, North Carolina, and the mother of his children-Rita Louise (Ward) Edwards. In addition to the nieces, nephews, left behind & many friends of the Northminster Presbyterian Church of Springfield, Ohio and those he met during his lifetime.

He went through training in Harligen, Texas to be a Nose Gunner, just as his training ended, so did the War, thus, a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of the Ohio State University with a BS in Business Administration and later received his MS in Logistic Management from Wittenberg University.

He received many accommodations for his service, but never talked about them. He was then sent to WPAFB for discharge at the level of Sergeant, and upon becoming a Civilian, went to work for WPAFB in Vandalia, Ohio. His work was connected with computers, and the programming of them, and he would fly off into the Wild Blue Yonder connected with WPAFB consulting with different Companies in different States, and even Countries. He worked his way up the "Ladder". After his retirement, he continued to work in a limited consulting capacity. He never spoke of his work, as if it was "TOP-SECRET". He was a very quiet person, a gentleman, an amazing Father.

Besides being an active member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church of Springfield, Ohio for many years, he was also an active member of the Springfield Sertoma Club.

He lived a full life with his beloved wife of 66 years, Nancy Louise Ensley. Together they conquered their world by being involved in the Community of their Church-involved in the Synod of the Presbytery, & City. He rang the bell for the Salvation Army over the years, volunteered at the local food pantry. Along with his wife, Nancy Lou, they were the head of the fellowship groups at Northminster Presbyterian Church, when it was located at what was to become known as the Historic site known as the Red Brick Church located on the corner of North Limestone Street & Stanton Avenue of Springfield, Ohio. He was also involved with his children, going to their ball games, and other community functions.

He loved to go out Golfing, was even known to go out to Golf at a local course on a Christmas Day, it was so warm.

He was Honored by a previous neighbor to be elected to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C., accompanied by that neighbor.

There was a memorial service, with Military Honors for him, befitting his service with the Government, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, located now on 400 Villa Road, Springfield, Ohio. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, for such a humble individual, born in London, Ohio, and growing up on a farm. YEP, he was an "Old Farm Boy", and was that way to the end.

Arrangements were by Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home, Springfield, Ohio.
