Robert A. Jones was born in Wales, May 12, 1850. When but a boy of six he was brought by his parents to this country who made their home in Granville, Ohio. Nine years later at the age of 15 the family came west to Iowa and settled in Williamsburg, Iowa county, and here Robert grew into manhood. He was a member of the Welsh Congregational church in Williamsburg. On May 18, 1873 he led to the marriage altar Miss Mary A. Gittins of Williamsburg who has borne to him six children, three sons, Albert R. Jones, Nyle William Jones, and Leonard R. Jones and three daughters Elizabeth M. (Lizzie) Jones Percy, Alice Jones, Lulu Jane Jones Holmberg all of whom have been spared to him and are with us today to mourn his loss. It was source of great gratification to him in the last hours to be able to have his children all with him and in them he took great delight. For a number of years after his marriage Mr. Jones followed farm life, later he went into business pursuit in Iowa Falls, Iowa and for the past fifteen years or more he was a commercial traveler. Three years ago he came to make his home in Cedar Rapids and to this home he returned some nine weeks ago a sick man. which sickness proved to be unto death, and after much suffering he passed to his eternal rest on Tuesday last at 1:45 A.M. June 3, 1918 aged 63 years and three weeks. Besides his widow and six children he is survived by three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Thomas, of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Henry Smith, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa
