4 Feb. 2001: Pearl D. Darkes, 83, of ManorCare, Lebanon, formerly of Jonestown RD 1, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in the home. She was the wife of Richard P. Darkes of ManorCare, Lebanon. Born April 20, 1917, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Calvin Regan and Gertrude Lash Regan Anderson. She was a former garment worker and had worked as a waitress in a snack bar operated by her husband in the State Capital Building, Harrisburg. She was a member of Victory Lighthouse in Lickdale, "Insight" Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Lebanon, and a 1935 graduate of Lebanon High School. Survivnig, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Sharon, wife of Gregory Keller of Lebanon; a sister, Virginia, wife of Kenneth McKinney of Reading; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. [Lebanon Daily News]
