An 82-year-old retired El Cajon businessman was killed yesterday afternoon in a two-car collision on Woodside Avenue that blocked traffic between Magnolia Avenue and the State 67 overpass for more than 2 hours, authorities said.
William Gordon Sinclair, who lived on Prescott Avenue in El Cajon, suffered multiple injuries in the 1:25 p.m. crash and died at Sharp Memorial Hospital at 2:33 p.m., deputy coroner Bill Leard said. The victim's wife, Lucile, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Sharp for treatment, Leard said.
Leard said Sinclair was eastbound on Woodside when he stopped to seek directions. When he pulled back onto the roadway, another eastbound car struck the left side of Sinclair's car, Leard said.
The driver of the other car escaped injury, he said.
