FLORENCE -Graveside services for Ruben G. Carter, 81, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. tonight at Walters-Powell Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter died in a local hospital. Born in Orangeburg, we was a son of the late William Preston and Artie Cornelia Boltin Carter. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a retired paint contractor. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Hampton Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara (George W.) Jordan of Summerton, Gloria Carter Braxton of Florence; brothers, John D. Carter, William M. Carter all of Florence; sisters, Mildred Braggs of Columbia, Dorothy Bazzell, Mary Elizabeth Leslie, both of Florence; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife, Louise Pope Carter and son Don. R. Carter.
