The Negroes, Cleveland Allen and Charlie Perkins, Sheffield, Ala.; Thomas Jackson, Floence, Ala., and Charlie Hampton, address unknown, were taken in automobiles by Sheriff Thompson to the McCracken County Jail at Paducah for safekeeping. The Sheriff reported tonight the transfer had been made without trouble. Jackson and Hampton were arrested at Union City, Tenn., and Allen and Perkins were caught on the road seven miles north of here.

The Negroes had been employed on the Government revetment fleet, engaged in work on the levee of he Mississippi River, where Plant's commissary had been establshed. They declared in their confessions that they were paid yesterday, lost their money in a dice game last night and then killed and robbed Plant to get more money, part of which they also lost gambling.

Allen was blamed for striking the fatal blow with the axe by his three companions. Plant's position in the bed indicated he did not move after being struck. Officers were unable to ascertain how much money had been taken from his tent.

Plant is survived by his wife and a 4-year-old daughter and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Plant, Marianna, Ark.
