Our beloved Roy Lee Gross, 84, passed away on April 4,2016. Roy was born February 6, 1932, in a log cabin in Mount Vernon, TX to Tom Gross and Cone Brooks Gross.

Roy learned from an early age the value of hard work. After entering the 7th grade, the teacher pulled Roy aside and told him if he wasn't going to come to school any more than he was, he should just stay home and work, and that's what he did. With a lot of hard work in farming, the oil field, and real estate, Roy ended up in Dalhart. He owned and operated Roy Gross Ditching and Rentals for over 50 years. His resounding advice was always to "make a hand." He was a man of many talents, and he had an immense love for his faith, family, and friends.

However, Roy's greatest gift was his heart. He truly believed the tenant that it is better to give than receive. His generosity gave many people a hand up, and his faith never wavered. He relied on his faith and that if he did right by God then he could do no wrong. His sense of humor and laughter made him an immediate friend and although we have lost an amazing man, heaven has gained an incredible angel.

Roy is survived by his wife Nira Christian French Gross, of Dalhart. A daughter, Rhonda Weese and husband Kevin of Dalhart; Stepdaughter, Lynn Sample and husband Jerry of Fredericksburg, TX; Stepson, Brian French and wife Barbara of Dalhart; Granddaughter, Paige Neese of Richmond, TX; Grandson, Nathaniel French of Amarillo; Brothers, Billy Gross and wife Pat of Dalhart; Alton Gross of Stratford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy is preceded in death by his first wife, Cletus Alene Brown Gross; his parents, Tom and Cone Gross; a brother Tommy Gross & sisters, Evelyn Kirkwood and Joy Higgins.

Services were held at 10:00 am on Friday April 8th at Pheasant Run Spiritual Life Center in Dalhart with Pastor Leon Laney officiating with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
