PLATTSBURGH - Irvin Clark Reid Sr., 82, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his home on 48 Lakeview Drive. He was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Feb. 25, 1918, to Absolum Redman and Victoria Clark Reid. Irvin married Frances Guay of Champlain on July 16, 1945, in Naples, Italy after serving as a major in the Army Field Artillery during World War II. Irvin was active in the community. He served twenty-five years on the Board of the State Bank of Albany; he worked with the Clinton County United Way Campaign for many years and served as Chairman of the 1975 drive; he was on the Board of the Kiwanis Club and helped build the YMCA Camp on Rand Hill; he was active in the Elk’s Club where he was a Past Exalted Ruler and a member of the Friday Night Men’s Bowling League until 1992. Irvin was active with the YMCA, the New Industries for Clinton County and the Champlain Development Group. He received the Liberty Bell Award for his outstanding community service from the Clinton County Bar Association.

Irvin was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He spent many happy summers with his family at their camp on Cumberland Head and later retired there.
