He was born March 14, 1909, in Greene County, a son of J.C. and Ethel Ione Carter.
Mr. Carter owned and operated Carter's Amoco on Park Avenue in Washington for 25 years. His wife, Evelyn Yeater Carter, is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Humphreys of Houston; one granddaughter, Shelley Knizner; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Mary Bristor, Leanna Phillips and Margaret Crosson; two brothers, Roy and Glenn Carter; and two stepbrothers, Hugh and George Danley.
At the request of the deceased, services and interment will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of McIlaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Houston.
