Reyes Martínez, age 86, a long time resident of Edgewood, NM, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.
Reyes was born on January 6, 1930 in Juan Tomás, NM to the late Abenicio and Ana María Jaramillo.
Reyes was united in marriage to the late Anselmo Martínez on November 25, 1946 in El Cedro, NM and was married to her loving husband for 64 years.
Reyes was a lifelong Catholic and a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood, NM.
Reyes was preceded in death by her husband, Anselmo Martínez, daughters, “Baby” Rita Martínez and Julia Martínez-Cox, son, Ben Martínez Sr. and great-grandson, Brayden Chávez.
The beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother is survived by her son, Albert Martínez and daughter, Annabell López. Additionally, she is survived by her four grandchildren, whom she raised as her very own, Ben Martínez Jr., Shawn Cox, Joelle Cox-Six and Anselmo Cox. Reyes is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her dearly.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the Rosary to be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at French – Lomas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood, NM. Interment will be at the Mountain Valley Cemetery followed by a reception at Edgewood Elementary Multi-purpose Room, 285 Dinkle Road, Edgewood, NM. Serving as Pallbearers will be Albert Martínez Sr., Ben Martínez Jr., Albert Martínez Jr., Michael López, Anselmo Cox, Justin Martínez, Benjamin Martínez and Brandon López. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Jordan Martínez, Elmo Six and Oscar Six.
