Jean Merryman, the daughter of Durwood and Bessie Mae (Embry) Dickens, was born on March 13, 1926, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from North High School.

On May 15, 1945, Jean was united in marriage with Leo Merryman in Nashville. They moved to Webster City in 1957, when Leo was transferred with Morton Foods.

Jean retired from Jean Fox – American Family Insurance in 2006.

Jean was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City and Love Circle. She was also an avid bridge player and bowler.

Jean passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 1986; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her daughters: Norma Christeson and husband Tom, Carol Egger and husband Dennis and Linda Bourne and husband John all of Webster City; 9 grandchildren: Trish Christeson-Bach (Jeff), Todd Christeson (Laurie), Scott Christeson (Andrea), Kari Christeson, Matthew Egger, Michael Egger (Jill Harms), Melissa Liston (Kip), Nicholas Bourne (Jessi), Jerrad Bourne (Holly) and 17 great-grandchildren and one on-the-way (June 2016).
