Born 22 May 1876 in Calheta District, southern half of the island of Sao Jorge, in the Azores archipelago of Portugal, to his parents, Joaquim Constantino da Borba and Rita Silveira da Avila.
[Acurcio, Acureio] married at age 22 to Mariana Braga da Silva on 12 of June 1899 in San Benito County, California. Unfortunately he died 27 December of that same year, before his marriage had completed its first year. He left his pregnant widow with an unborn daughter, and was buried in the winter of 1899 in the Watsonville Catholic Cemetery.
He unfortunately never saw the face of his daughter.
