Margaret Charlotte Carlson

Margaret C. Carlson, age 97, resident of Brainerd, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society - Bethany.

Margaret was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on February 17, 1919 to Martin and Elizabeth C. (Ekstrom) Tollefson. She married Alfred E. Carlson of Brainerd on April 10, 1942. During Alfred's military service during World War II, they lived in California. Upon their return to Minnesota, they lived on White Sand Lake in Baxter for many years and

Margaret was a baker at the Baxter Elementary School. She also worked for many years as a clerk with the Crow Wing County Fair. She was a long-time member of the "Baxter Friendly Neighbor Club." She and Alfred were members of First Presbyterian Church. In more recent years, she rejoined Zion Lutheran, the church where she had been confirmed and married.

Margaret is survived by her son, William "Bill" (Noreen) Carlson of Dilworth, MN. Her 2 granddaughters Tracy (Paul) Frost of Ham Lake, MN, and Angela (Joshua) Kantola of Littleton, CO. Her 10 great-grandchildren Wil, Hope, Elena, Joleen, Levi, Autumn and Henrik Frost, and Hannah, Logan and Maverick Johnson. Her sisters, Gladys (Howard) Groth and Florence Mailhot. Many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, in 1983; her parents; her brothers, Earl, Howard and Roy Tollefson; and her sisters, Violet Pickar, Lorraine Martin and Caroline Tollefson.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Steve Benson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and will continue the hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
