Carl was born on March 31, 1946, in New London, CT to parents, Carl and Catherine Adams.
Carl he graduated from St. Joseph Grammar School in 1960, St. Bernard High School in 1964 and College of the Holy Cross in 1968.
Carl married Barbara Betts on November 9, 1968, at St. Mary's Church in New London. Carl completed two years of Army service, with honorable discharge in 1970.
Carl dedicated much of his life to ministry in the Catholic Church. Carl was ordained a Catholic deacon in 1999 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Burlington, VT. Carl went on to full-time ministry in Iowa parishes and schools, living by the motto, “Here I am Lord, do with me what you will.”
Carl is survived by Barbara, his wife of 48 years and sons, Brian and his wife, Susan of Albuquerque and Christopher and his partner, Dawn O’Connell and grandson, Johnathan of Vermont. Other family members include Carl’s brother Stephen and his wife, Deborah, niece and nephew, Melissa and Matthew, his sister, Elizabeth "Lisa" Poirier and nephew, Jason of Connecticut.
Services will be held at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. A Viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. A Catholic memorial mass, followed by burial with military honors, will be held in New London, CT, at a future date.
