First set up housekeeping on the James Blaney Farm on the Headwaters of Castlemans Run.In 1823 they bought the Crow Farm about 3 miles from Bethany WV.They bought 75 acres adjoining the South from Samuel Cox making 360 acres. They built and operated a grist mill and a saw mill. They had between 1,000 and 1,200 sheep on the farm.In 1868 they sold the farm to their sons John and Samuel and moved to a small place just below the depot at West Alexander, PA
John was known as a "Black Abolitionist".He helped with the under ground Railroad.He picked up slaves at John McCoy's south ofAlexander, Pa ; brought them for his farm; then on the McKeefer's near Middletown, PA. Elizabeth had a wonderful memory.She could tell you the ages, dates of birth and death of all the relatives.Theressa took care of her until Elizabeth's death.
