Lotella Cox, 82, of Abilene and formerly of Seymour, TX, died Friday, December 21, 2001, at a local medical center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Church of Christ with David Wray and John Risse officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.
Mrs. Cox was born on November 20, 1919 in Italy, TX and attended public schools and graduated from high school in Seymour. In 1939, she moved from Seymour to Abilene where she and her husband owned both Abilene Kindergarten and Dyess Kindergarten for twenty years. She worked at Abilene State School as Librarian for five years, and also was a real estate owner.
Mrs. Cox was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She left a great legacy of caring for others. Though she was a shrewd businesswoman, she was best known for the way she cared for others, always looking after those with special needs and the elderly.
She married Foster Cox in Abilene on December 23, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Cox was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Mrs. Cox was also predeceased by a son, Gary Lynn Cox; her parents, Whit and Iva Daniel Eddlemon; a sister, Shella Eddlemon.
Survivors include a son, Keith Cox and wife, Donna of Titusville, FL; two daughters, Paula Fry and husband, Mark of El Paso and Janet Ardoyno and husband, David, of Abilene; a sister, Clemmie Lucas of Tecumseh, OK; seven grandchildren, Dedra Baca, Maria Cox, Gavin Lynn Cox, Ginger Hafer, Justin Ardoyno, Jonathan Ardoyno and Emily Ardoyno; and two great-grandchildren, Mitchell Hafer and Garrison Cox. She was a special friend and "foster mother" to James and Betty Slaughter.
The family will receive friends at the home of David and Janet Ardoyno.
