Helmer “David” Shell, 74, was called home from this life on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez in Natchez, Ms. Mr. Shell was born February 15, 1942, in Franklin County, MS, to Aaron and Helen Helmer Shell.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS on Friday, April 15, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and will continue at Springhill Baptist Church in Knoxville, MS, on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. The graveside service will follow in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Knoxville, MS. Bro. Mike Carraway will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Shell was owner and operator of Shell Loggers, Inc. for 38 years. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church in Knoxville, MS. He served his country in the US Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He enjoyed working, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Helen Helmer Shell; brother, Aaron Shell, Jr.; and brother-in-law, William Mullins.

Survivors are his wife of 19 years, Jan Sullivan Shell of Roxie, MS; son, Robbie Shell of Gloster, MS; daughters, Myra Shell Stewart and husband Chris of Knoxville, MS, Crystal Shell Porschakin and husband Jason, and Brianna Garner of Roxie, MS; sister, Jimmy Shell Mullins; brother, Kermit Shell and wife Judy; grandchildren, Robbi Dawn Shell, Jayme Shell, Rylee Shell, Abbie Shell, Taylor Stewart, Bucky Stewart and wife Denora, Tristen Porschakin, and Shyla Porschakin; great grandchildren, Kaylynn Dawn Bridges and Caydence Wayne Stewart; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Brad Griffin, Chad Griffin, Billy Norman, David Cameron, Greg Shorts and Ken Shell.

Honorary Pallbearer is C L Felton.
