Ruth Skiftun, 101, Harvey, formerly of Heimdal, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Ruth Rodne, daughter of Haldor and Delia (Ring) Rodne, was born March 23, 1915 on the family farm in Fram Township, west of Heimdal. She was raised on the family farm and attended the nearby country school.

On October 17, 1936, she was united in marriage to Bernard Skiftun in Fessenden. They lived in the Wellsburg area until 1949 when they moved to a farm west of Heimdal where they continued to farm until 1978 when Bernard entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home due to ill health. Ruth moved into Heimdal in 1979 where she continued to reside until moving to Harvey in 2006. She had been a resident of the St. Aloisius Nursing Home since November of 2011.

Ruth was a longtime member of the Hoff Lutheran Church of Heimdal.

She is survived by one son, Roger (Linda) Skiftun of Harvey; one daughter, Garnet Free of Heimdal; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Skiftun of Carrington; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard, who passed away July 10, 1986; her son, Donald; son-in-law, Dallas Free; four brothers, Selmer, Tom, Louis and Harley Rodne; three sisters, Selma Berve, Clara Rogelstad and Gilma Howard; and great-grandson, Zachariah Skiftun.
